Jangle pop is subgenre of pop rock from mid-1960s originating with bands such as The Byrds. Basically jangle pop focuses on trebly, chiming guitars (usually 12-string electric guitars) and pop-oriented melodies. But it found a resurgence with post-punk and alternative rock movement in the 1980s and classified as one of alternative rock genre.
