ポニーキャニオン  (Label)

Pony Canyon, Inc. is a Japanese company that publishes music, DVDs, VHS, movies and video games. It is among the major record labels in Japan.
It is a subsidiary of Japanese Media Group, Fujisankei Communications Group.

Pony Canyon was formed in 1966 as Nippon Broadcasting System Service, Inc., as a record label division of Nippon Broadcasting System, Inc. to produce and market music from Japanese artists.
In 1970, it formally changed its name to Pony, Inc. to match its brand names (PONYPak 8-track casettes and PONY casettes). At this time, another label, Canyon Records, Inc. was founded.
Pony, Inc. later on ventured into personal computer entertainment software under the name Ponyca.
In 1987, Pony and Canyon Records merged, forming Pony Canyon, Inc., the present company and label.

Pony Canyon is headquartered in Tokyo with offices in Malaysia and South Korea. It employs approximately 360 people. Pony Canyon also owns the recording label Flight Master. It also distributes releases from Italian dance record company Time S.p.A. in many countries worldwide, including in Japan and in Italy.

Despite associations with Fuji TV (which shares the same logo), not all of Pony Canyon's TV show and movie library have been broadcast on Fuji TV. Some of their non-Fuji TV catalog includes Doraemon movies.

A number of famous artists are signed with Pony Canyon, such as Van Ness Wu.

In regards to VOCALOID music, Pony Canyon has published or distributed albums for a number of artists such as Glorious World, and notably the EXIT TUNES label's albums (under its subsidary, Quake Inc.).
